    "Unlike some of the other testimonials on here. I am not really an ex-athlete. Raised in the armed forces, our family was big on solitary activities like jogging, swimming, cross country skiing and biking. I had managed pretty well with these activities until I had my fourth child in my late 30's. After that, I could never seem to build up the stamina I needed for a good run or bike ride. Housework was tiring, yard work was tiring. Snack habits crept in….I thought I was a healthy eater but the weight kept creeping upward. So I found myself in my early 40's feeling like for me: fat+40=failure as I had always been very slim. It is shocking how much our physical appearance can affect how we feel about ourselves.     Pilates is a body conditioning routine that seeks to build flexibility, strength, endurance, and coordination without adding muscle bulk. In addition, pilates increases circulation and helps to sculpt the body and strengthen the body's core or powerhouse (torso). People who do pilates regularly feel they have better posture, are less prone to injury, and experience better overall health.
